stupid door locks - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

okay when i shut my door yesterday while working on my electircal problem i shut the door and low and behold my darn door lock poped out on the passager side. the last working fdoor lock (i'd have to lock the driver door and cralw out the passager side.) so how do you reinstall them?

Pretty easy, remove inner panel and it gives you good access. There's a sliding retainer that holds the lock to the door skin. My advise is if you haven't sound deadened the door skin already, this would be a good time to do it since you have the inner panel off.

Blazer is correct, fast, easy, and be sure to sound deaden your outer skin. There was a post that told about a roofing patch, it comes in a 8" high roll with aluminum on one side, get it at Lowes or what ever you have in your area. I got some but am waiting on a warm day to apply it.
