I don't recall that there was any coolant recovery system on our trucks, when they were new. When the Arab oil embargo of '73 was hammered home, and antifreeze got to be a high-priced commodity, coolant recovery became an issue.

At first glance the picture reminded me of the vacuum reservoir for the A/C system, but a second look says it isn't. It's hard to tell......the pix is too small and I don't want to copy it, just to look more closely.

I don't have a clue about what it is. It doesn't look like a windshield washer bottle holder.....

IIR that is for the charcol (sp) cannister for the smog system. See them now and again on 72's.
