overflow bracket
Has anyonre found one of these in their trucks? I found this in the inner passanger fender of a 72 Custom 10. It looks factory, and it was mounted where the fender bolts to the core support. If it is factory, is anyone making replacement jars for it. Haven't seen them in any catalogs. Since GM used one part in multiple vehicles, I wonder if they are reproducing the jars for other cars that I could use. Any ideas?

Re: overflow bracket
I don't recall that there was any coolant recovery system on our trucks, when they were new. When the Arab oil embargo of '73 was hammered home, and antifreeze got to be a high-priced commodity, coolant recovery became an issue.
At first glance the picture reminded me of the vacuum reservoir for the A/C system, but a second look says it isn't. It's hard to tell......the pix is too small and I don't want to copy it, just to look more closely. I don't have a clue about what it is. It doesn't look like a windshield washer bottle holder.....

Re: overflow bracket
IIR that is for the charcol (sp) cannister for the smog system. See them now and again on 72's.

Re: overflow bracket
I was afraid of that. I've been thinking of putting an overflow tank on and was hoping this was part of one. Thanks

Re: overflow bracket
Frank (PICKMUP) was selling coolant recovery tanks and brackets a while back. I think they were a modified version of the windshield washer tank.

Re: overflow bracket
I bought me one of them hot rod aluminum overflow tanks. Gonna put it along side the radiator, so it can gather the excess. I hope to be able to actually use my windshield washer to clean the windshield or re-aim the nozzles to spray the vehicles on one side or the other....or even through their open windows...
