Show me your.....
courtesy light switches.
Has anybody installed courtesy (dome) light switches in the door jams? Anything robbed or pilfered on a junkyard raid? I have to setup something to tell my air ride's computer the doors are closed. I would hate to bury the corner of an open door 3 inches into the asphalt. Pics would be great!!!! Last edited by screamin_c102; 12-15-2005 at 05:47 PM. |

Re: Show me your.....
The ones on my 72 cab look stock. Maybe an option in 72? My 70 didn't have any.

optional starting in 69, included in CST or Cheyenne models.
If you look in the front of the door jamb, about an inch below the bottom of the dash (IIRC) there is a raised part of the cab dorr jamb. That is where the switch goes. |

Screamin' doesn't either ('71). I'll check LMC and see if they offer any diagrams.
Thanks and Happy Holidays. |

Re: Show me your.....
It's easy to get the hole in there any vendor has the correct switches. They just work on a ground connecting when the door is opened. The wire is lets say fun to run but it's doable. We need a pitcure to show you where it should enter the kick pannel in order to feed it to the switch.

Re: Show me your.....
Went out a checked Screamin' I drilled out and ran the speaker wires through the pad where the factory switch goes
I'll have to find a different spot or move the speaker wires. Last edited by screamin_c102; 12-15-2005 at 08:05 PM. |

Re: Show me your.....
You'll have to move the speaker wire. That raised pad is the only spot that'll reach the door.
Here's a pic of mine. You can see where the wire goes into the kick panel. Routing this would be a real PITA. Mine is all original in this aspect. I just went out in the slush and ice to get this pic...I hope you apreciate it, i slipped and busted my @ss. |

Re: Show me your.....
Well that's why I had such a hard time running the wire. I drilled my hole up at the top of the yellow arrow. Make sure you tie you new switch wire onto the speaker wire as you pull it out.
