Re: Tranny Swap help

How do you use the truck? The SM465 4 speed is good and tough. Has the granny 1st gear and is pretty plentiful. Is your truck a 2wd or 4wd. That will matter when picking the tranny. You ought to be able to find these at your local junk yard.

I was told that the bellhousing hole for the three speed tranny is slightly differnet sized than the bellhousing hole for the 4 speed tranny - I have never confirmed this so you need to figure that out to see if you need a different bellhousing.

Unless you know the age and condition of your clutch, might as well throw a new one in when you do the tranny swap.

Re: Tranny Swap help

Bell housing hole sizes.....67 & older were 4 11/16"(same as car). the 68 - up got a 5 1/8" hole on the trucks. you will also need a high hump floor cover to run the 4spd truck trans. best of luck, crazyL
