rear end carrier???

Hello

How can you tell by looking at the carrier if it is a posi?

I don't think you can, just by looking at the carrier. Jack the rear wheels off the ground and rotate one tire and see if the other tire is going in the same direction. If so, then it's a posi. There also my be a tag on the housing indicating it's a posi, but I'm not sure about that. Someone else on here can verify that.

I just have the carrier and gears... no rear end.
The rear I am using isn't posi and am hoping the one I
got in a box is.

Look up Eaton or Detroit Locker and you will see the difference
