I'd join. Got my gramp's 68 with a 307, too. And a lot more rust than you, so does that mean I am winning?

Re: Pics of my new project!
I have seen those coils before, it is on the shock and not actually on the leaf pack itself. Im guessing it's a redneck overload spring or something similar. My grandpa's old motorhome had them too, I don't believe they were a factory option.
BTW nice truck. It could have either the T221 or the NP205 transfer case, the NP205 being the more desireable of the two. Welcome!

Re: Pics of my new project!
If I had to guess (From Your Interior Pic)I'd say that your Transfer Case is prolly T-221 as the shifter lever is to the left (and told will rub your leg) on the high hump on the floor...Np205 would be on the right side of the hump and have a straighter Lever.

Re: Pics of my new project!
I see the spare must be a Goodyear Custom Xtra Grip Hi-Miler! Damn those are the coolest lug tires ever made. Now they are only available in 7.00x16.00.
What size tires are on the truck? 9.50x16.5 ? 7.00x16.00 ???

Re: Pics of my new project!
Keep the faith, I've seen a lot worse brought back to like new with a little cash, some time and a lot of hard work. But the work is the fun part of the project, remember "some guys have therapists, others have old trucks to work on"

Re: Pics of my new project!
Welcome to the board! In all my travels I've never seen a dual spring suspension like that. I seem to recall all 4x4's being leaf sprung only. Judging by the color of the coils, I'd say they're add-ons. Cool truck regardless, can't wait to see more of it. Keep us posted after your return

Re: Pics of my new project!
Cool truck! My Grandpaw's old 1960 Chevy truck was painted the same color, before he sold it and bought the one I have. Yeah, another grandpaw truck! Those tires are cool, my truck had those old Goodyear super hi-miler lug tires on the back and highway tires on the front. You can still get those 7.5/16 lug tires but I don't think Goodyear makes 'em anymore.

Re: Pics of my new project!
I would look for a good used OE tailgate and not an after market. LMC has really junk gates. OE is best if you can find a decent one. Looks like a great starter. I love the pass downs.

Re: Pics of my new project!
The good thing is that nobody has screwed with it. Much better to get one like that than try to refix one that someone else has "fixed". Good luck with your project. I finished my first full restore this summer, started my second one in November, the second one goes much easier - once the bug bites you ....
