Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
Hoping to find a van tilt shift lever in "good to better" shape.
Will take basic driver quality if that's all that pops up. ![]() Pics of the part if you've got them would be great. |

Re: Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
You'll never get your knob off in one piece.
Does anyone know if the later keyd columns would work as a donor for the shifter? If so, I have access to a few brand new ones. |

Re: Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
to get the old knobs off take a small propane torch and heat the handle a few inches down fron the knob and pull on the knob at the same time. don't heat to long or the knob will start to melt, don't ask me how i know.you might try on a spare or junk one first to get the timeing right for legth of time you need to heat. hope this helps. john

Tim;
Are those the black hard plastic knob like original or newer rubber ones?

Re: Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
General question I have a truck tilt and the shift lever is a bit too long for my taste is this van one shorter and a direct replacement or why are you changing this?
sorry to hijack Dave

Re: Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
Custom 68 the van levers are shorter and will fit the stock tilt. Tilts are for tilts..standard column shifters wont interchange. I see quite a few newer steering wheels which have a smaller diameter used with the van shifter. I must have ten newer steering wheels here from vans.
As for the knobs coming off..I've never had any problem here getting them off. Sometimes when I'm at a yard I just walk by and pull them off. |

Re: Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
interesting... I've neve gotten one off...never tried too hard either.
The van column has a shorter shifter...but the early van units were big too just like the trucks. |

Re: Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
When I need a tilt lever, I make my own.
I find a nice turn signal lever (not hard, every truck has a t/s lever) and cut it shorter and cut threads onto it. It's just 1/4-20 threads cut with a die. When you're done, it looks just like a normal tilt lever.

Re: Looking For: Van Tilt Shift Lever
My bad, I misread your original post. I'm glad though, I thought tilt levers were going for 40 bucks now. That did seem high for a little bitty tilt lever.

![]() Shipping was very fast and the vendor was good to work with and friendly. No hesitation about buying from Christian's truck parts again for me. Thanks Tim. |
