Re: Getting a new Truck

Congrats and welcome to the board. I guess your taking the truck to KY balances the one I removed last weekend. I've bought two trucks sight unseen, the first was worse than described, the second was better than described.

Re: Getting a new Truck

Congrats! I had seen that truck on Ebay as well. It looked like a real good purchase for someone. I would love to have a 4x4 for daily driving. Again congrats on the new purchase! I hope that everything works out!

Re: Getting a new Truck

UPDATE! Well wickedred, is to columbia Mo. for the night ,got a hotel and is beded down. Now the bad news ,,checked into hotel came out and the truck wont start. Nothing ,has headlights, radio dash lights etc. but when he turns the key nothing, starter solenoid doesnt even click,,,was on road for 2-3 hours solid,so he is thinking heat soak on the starter. Any Ideas? at least he is close to a chevy dealershipand repair shop,,,,,

Re: Getting a new Truck

Dump a glass of ice water on the starter. If it starts, then it was too hot. (I've done it when I had a crappy heat soaking starter)

Re: Getting a new Truck

Whack the starter with a hammer or something heavy. Give it a good whack, it will start.

Good luck!

Re: Getting a new Truck

well i made it home. like my dad stated above, thanks to all the help i recieved from fellow board members. the truck is better than described. i have some electrical issues to deal with but nothing major. i have to give a big thanks to the maintence man at the Red Roof Inn. he drove me back and forth to the local auto parst store several times and lent me his tools to use. he was by far a huge help. But, at last the truck is at home. it was a long drive and a little trouble, but was well wroth it. glad to be a part of the board.

Re: Getting a new Truck

That looks like a great truck. Sure you probably payed more than you would of liked to, but the fact of the matter is that you have an all American all metal classic that was well taken care of / customized ! I was thinking you'd be stuck with four wheel drums and no power assist but the set-up you have up front now would definetly be a reason to buy for me. I have a 1970 with power nothing and four wheel drums Good call, and let us know if the purchase turned out to be as good as you had hoped. I'm skeptical about purchasing a used truck over the internet sight unseen but I hope it all goes o.k.

Re: Getting a new Truck

Glad you made it home. I have been ondering about you all night. That is a sweet truck and I would order a new lock cylinder and ignition switch from one of the board members. I might be wrong but thats my guess.

Re: Getting a new Truck

Bad Dog:
it sight unseen problem was no big deal. i have bought several vehicles that way. i fly in and take a look. if i dont like what i see i get back on a plane and fly home.

Mudder67:
me and dad were talking about the lock and ignition cylinder last night. it is eigther the cylinder or the ignition wiring. just some time trouble shooting to find out.
