Re: Big-Time PROB

It is a Bendix calipers.
not riding the brakes, I think i do have heat problems.
When it is cold outside,it does not have much problems
If we are pulling it does not matter.

Re: Big-Time PROB

If the pedal is not coming back all the way, it will hold the brakes on a little. The pedal has to be back all the way for the ports in the MC to open for fluild to return. Sometimes the spring in the MC can weaken and the weight of the pedal will hold the brakes on some.

If your calipers are all corroded and gungy they won't slide freely, take the pads out and put them back on with the pins and try moving then back and forth, it should be real easy. Lubricate the bushings with high temp grease and clean the caliper and spindle surfaces that come in contact with emery paper.

Also, problems in the combo/prop valve can cause this.

Hope these suggestions help, It could be a number of things, I would start with just checking that everthing moves freely first.

Re: Big-Time PROB

Improper torque and tightening pattern on the lug nuts has also been known to cause this. NEVER use an impact to tighten them down. Try to uses a torque wrench to do this so that you know all the nuts are tightened evenly all the way around….. the unevenness can cause worping. Always try to tighten in three stages, 33% of total torque on all the nuts then 66% of torque on all the nuts and then do your final torque 100% of what the torque should be on the nuts. If you do this and always tighten the nut across then hub your rotors will only worpe from heat … and that’s a whole other story!

Re: Big-Time PROB

one more thing that gets over looked a lot is the brake hose. the inside of the hose will seprate. fluid will pass thru when you apply brakes but when you let off,the hose will suck together and not let the pressure off the calipers. i have seen this a lot on these trucks.
