relocating gas tank ?and opinion
im thinking of putting my gas tank in the rear of my truck. my ? is should i go with a plastic one or a steel one. brothers has a poly kit. tank and straps for 265.00 or should i go with one from a steel manufacturer, i hate to cut my truck up to put the gas filler in. maybe go with a filler in the rear marker lense but it looks like a lot of work. i would have to get the hardware from a s- 10 filler door . etc. does anybody have any good ideas on what to do ? also i need to see what it looks like from the rear sect. does the blazer tank hang down low and easy to see? any rear pic.s of a tank in the rear is appreciated.
thanks, DAN

I'm sure the tank is visible from a normal veiwing distance, I plan on doing this to my frame shortly after we get the brakes done. All you hafta do ( from what I've been told) is remove the cross member between the spare tire and the suspension crossmember, its really small and doesn't really do much anyway. I'm gonna be using the blazer kit... mainly cos the other tank is very expensive.
http://www.classicheartbeat.com/mark...t_gas_door.htm thats the only pics I have of what I plan to do, as far as the marker light door.. I'm gonna take it to a body shop and have them do it I think |

heres my tank
it is a metal 31 gallon blazer tank. you cant really see it when the bumper is on. i believe they make a smaller blazer tank, maybe a 21 gallon.

The measurements for the 21 gallon tank is on our site in the MISC section, we use stainless boat thru deck fillers in the bed floor corner.

This is mine with the poly tank from GMCPaul. I think it was 21 or 22 gallon.

Slammed67 - I noticed you have an electric fuel pump. I want to put one in when I put my tank back there. Should I bypass the old mechanical fuel pump or just put the electric one inline with it?

Use on or the other. Take off the old fuel pump and fuel pump push rod. Get a block-off plate to cover the hole.
