well, I want to convert my new 1968 GMC 910 to a short step... so I'm planning on back-halfing it and getting a short step bed...

I live in Manitoba, just outside Winnipeg.

I was wondering if there is anybody out here who wants to trade my longstep bed for a shortstep??? or can get me a connection for a shortstep, off a trailer or something?? maybe an older model bed with no fenders so I can carry the 68 fenders over?

I was also wondering if anybody wants to buy the stock 250 straight six and three speed manual????

Oh, and am I pissing off any purists by chopping up my 910? :p

Since you asked...you sure are!

But don't worry about that, it's not my truck. It's when you try to chop my truck that we'll have it out! LOL

Good luck finding a swap, if I were closer I'd try to work something out.

I don't think you'll have to worry too much about what ppl think when you chop a long step, many ppkl think they look funny. (my self included)
And even if you to, who cares, it's your ride. I'm putting a caddy 425 in my Longhorn...and it is one of 1404 built. But that doesn't matter.
As for bed selectioon, you can use the box (- fenders) off of anything from a second series 55, up to an '87. The box stayed pretty much the same.
As for your inline, some one will want it, but it may sit on your shop floor for a couple years though.

well, how much do you think I should charge for the engine/tranny? I've seen the 250/3 speed advertised for 300 before...

I was also wondering about the 73 up step beds. Will they fit on a 68 frame? Or do you need to do a body lift and rear fender swap to make them look right?

You are planning on shortening the frame right? I had to shorten mine 18 inches in order to fit a shortbed. It's fairly easy, if you got any ?'s let me know.

I don't think a lift ever looks right.

But that's just me. :p
As for the bed box, they were the same from the second series 55, up till '87. The fenders were the only thing that chainged. The '73 ones have the squared off wheel openings, and it just don't match the front openings...looks funny after you've noticed it.

The 73 style SHORTstepside bed is LONGER, only by a couple of inches but it is longer. I have one sitting in my backyard that I bought to put on my 70, when I set it on I found out right away.

It's for sale!!!
