5-speed in a low hump '67
Gentlemen, and Ladies, I'm new to the forum so please be gentle. I'm in the midst of installing a new Tremec 5-speed behind my 250. It's got a .64 rear 5th so it should work great with the 3.77 stock rear. Good gas mileage might be fun. My question revolves around the hole in the floor that I anticipate having to cut. Does anyone have the "high hump" bolt-in tunnel piece from a stock 4-speed. I'd like to get one to use as a starting point. Any other suggestions? Ideally, I'd like all of this to work with a factory type "high hump" carpet.
Thanks for any and all input. |

from Canada. I am no help but you, but there is a lot of great knowledge on this board. I am sure someone has done this, or has really thought about it. Good Luck

You should be able to get a high hump cover from one of the board vendors or from the parts board.
I have a 3550 tremec in my 71 shortbed stepside. The 3550 will just barely fit with the low hump floor. I got a high hump cover and it makes installing the 3550 much easier. Solved the tight clearence issue also. |

Your best bet is to subscribe and post a WTB thread on the parts board. You should have no problem finding one.

A bit harder to find, but in my opinion a little better for your situation, try to find a bolt on high hump with no hole. 1/2 ton V-6 (GMC) trucks, and big block trucks with automatics should have them. This way, you can put the hole whyere ever the shifter is instead of making the stock hole bigger becouse it almost lines up.
