Battery drain - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I got a new battery and now I have a draining problem. I am not good with electrical systems, but how can I locate the problem?

Remove the fuses one at a time until the drain stops. If that doesn't isolate it, you'll have to start checking the hot wired equipment, like headlights, stop lights, hazard flashers. Good luck, Jeff.

The easiest way is to unhook the neg. batt cable and connect one end of a test light to the cable and other end to terminal. It will light up if there is a draw, and go out when you find it. Dont forget the glove box light if you have one and the alternator after checking fuses. Good luck John

check your alternator mine was bad killing the battery when the truck was off if you still got an externtor voltage reg i'd recomend switching over to an internator volt reg i got mine off an 83 chevy k-10 4x4 its an Palladium ALTERNATOR PREMIUM Part Number: P7127M3 from advance auto lifetime free replacement 38.88 anyway heres the link to the converstion if you end up with an bad alt. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=119379
