Slave cylinder power assist steering question
I had the slave cylinder power assist steering on my 68 1ton and changed it to a power steering box. I used the same pump and the steering seems kinda hard, not bad but not as good as some of my other trucks. Was wondering, do I need to use a pump from one with the power box, and not the one that ran the slave cylinder??????? Any one ever had this problem???? Thanks, Joe

I would think the regular p/s pump would be the way to go and the reason it's not working properly is due to a difference in signal and working pressures.

I did a seach on Hollanders for a PS Pump for a 67 truck and found the following interchange:
CHEVROLET FORWARD CONTROL 67 CHEVROLET FORWARD CONTROL 68 linkage type CHEVROLET PICKUP TRUCK 67 CHEVROLET PICKUP TRUCK 68 exc. 8-396; linkage type CHEVY II 67 GMC FORWARD CONTROL 68 GMC PICKUP TRUCK 66-67 NOVA 68 SUBURBAN 66 GMC SUBURBAN 67 SUBURBAN 68 Chevrolet, exc. 8-396; linkage type I do not know what system was used on the ChevyII/Nova but appears that the pump is used only on linkage type systems. Looks like you need a later model pump.

Thats the truck I thought you were talking about, she sure is a beauty. I'll be there but I wont be able to bring the blazer, my vanity plates finally came in and while driving down to pick them up I noticed the tranny starting to slip, so it's going to have to stay close to home for awhile. See ya there

NICE FLATBED!
Well, you know I would like it...it's a flatbed. They're great to use to go out and get more trucks to part! OK, OK, just kidding!
