Replacement bolts for truck bed
I am going to remove my bed and need to know which bolts I to buy as replacements. I'm sure I'll have to cut the old ones off and replace them. Any help would be great
Thanks |

Re: Replacement bolts for truck bed
The bolts that hold the bed to the frame are mostly 3/8 x 16, but I would measure them to make sure. The sides and front of the bed are held on with 5/16 x 18. All of them are carriage bolts. Most any hardware store carries them, or you could get a complete set from one of the board vendors. Good luck, Jeff.

Re: Replacement bolts for truck bed
The bed to frame bolts are 3/8 by 4 inch. However the front 2 bolts on my 70 were larger, 7/16 by 4, for some reason. Hardware store and some vendors just sell a regular grade 2 bolt, the factory used grade 5 bolts, I would get the stronger grade 5 myself.

Re: Replacement bolts for truck bed
I've found that if you make a small spot weld on the head of the bolt to the bed and soak the threads with BP blaster. you can save them. I do know that LMC carries a complete kit for $15.95

Re: Replacement bolts for truck bed
What do you do for bolts with a wood floor? I know the strips I have are stainless polished. I was going to get stainless bolts and polish them, but you can't get grade 5 in stainless, can you.

Re: Replacement bolts for truck bed
It seems that LWB beds have the two 7/16 bolts up front and SWB have 3/8 bolts in all holes.
