current projects

[1969 GMC]

Just thought I'd ask how everyones projects are going.

Mine is slow as always. About to finish my senior year of
college and I'm broker than broke.

Santa left some cool presents for me under the tree.
First off was this allen wrench
(probably the biggest one I've ever seen!).
Its to remove the kingpins from my D60 front axle.



Second were these:



Double beadlock rims from a military Humvee.
I need to sandblast them and get new nuts,
o-rings, and beadlock inserts, but I got a
killer deal on these from a local guy I met
on pavementsucks.com .

I have a little more christmas money burnin
a hole in my pocket, now I'm on the lookout
for DRW hubs for my D60. Also, the school
I used to work at is auctioning off a '91
G30 van with a TBI 350 that I may have
to bid on.

So, how are YOUR projects?

I have the front end of my truck all torn apart. Getting some new red paint and a new 383 stroker. Will be lots of red under the hood and lots less green in the wallet.

I went out and pull started my 1967 for the first time last night. It hadn't been started in a year or so. Got it running and idle smoothed out a little. Found a fuel leak at the fuel pump, couldn't see if it was the pump or a hose. I will need to replace the starter, plugs and wires. Headllights don't work, but the park lights and dome light does. P/O and I put it on a trailer and it got pulled into town this morning.

I did find the protect-o-plate in the glove box.

I'll start work on it next monday. Lots to do

My 67' is coming along very fast right now. Last week I installed some super flexy rear springs off a Furd,along with a shackle flip.Then I mounted up my my new 37" Toyo M/T's. Shortly after that I started my full roll cage with rock sliders which I plan to get almost finished today . I will install my NV4500/twin stick 205 if I ever get it . I also need to get an ARB for my D60 front. Wish I had a camera to post up some pic's with but I spend all my $$$$ on paying off my cattle and keeping inventory for my parts business and getting this toy finished .

Well got the lift on my burb,just need to finish removeing the shocks,and go back and retighten everything,but also want to clean the frame and paint it chassis black,this will be a daily driver,so just want to look decent not for show. Will post pixs when finished.

My disk front D-44 is now installed, power steering works Great! My truck steers easier than my '03 Wrangler Jeep. I can go from full stop left to full stop right with 1 finger at a standstill, it's even easier when driving. Also added a new set of Rancho RSX9000 9-way adjustable shocks to the front. I can't say how well they work until the brakes are done I can't drive it very far.

The power brakes are another issue The dual 11" booster mounted up, braced to the lower firewall. Re-located the P-block to the front crossmember like a 75-76 era truck and used most of the lines from same. I plumbed lines to fit but the fan shroud sat on them and bent the (small) feed line for the front axle. Tore it all apart and installed some elbows on the feed lines for better clearance. Now I'm still trying to bleed the system. I worked on it yesterday and I'm getting noting but foam & air bubbles. I have used close to a gallon of brake fluid so far and I'm still not done.

I also re-conditioned my heaterbox while the front clip was off. Fixed the cracks w/epoxy, sanded & painted it and stuck a '76 fan in the hole, my old fan cage was plastic and had a few broken fins from sucking up small sticks & trash. The '76 was a metal cage fan and it blows (in a good way!)
