Master cylinder help - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My master cylinder will not pump and hold pressure on the front brakes. The back reservoir works fine, but the front will not.

Can a 1967 m/c be rebuild? Does it just have O-rings? Is it not worth the trouble?

I have the M/C out of the pickup, have blown it out, and refilled a couple of times to remove debris. No change.

Just go to the parts store and buy a new one, they are pretty cheap ($15 or so). If you were closer I'd give you a new one that I have sitting in the shop. But by the time you pay shipping and wait on it I doubt it it is worth it.

go to the local autoparts store and get a new one, not a remaufactured one. They are pretty cheap and you wont have to worry about it. I think mine was under 30 bucks. I had converted mine to front disks so I used one off a 72 with power but I bet the price for yours will be the same.
I think mine is from Autozone. I purchased the reman first and it leaked and didnt work right so the new one was cheap enough that is what I have now.

See if you can beat this deal. I have agreed to buy this pickup from the Ag-shop teacher at the high school I work at, so his shop boys are doing all the work to get things running. Deal was $1000 for a running pickup. He picks up the tab till it runs, then I drive it home.
