Re: Need help ASAP!!
This was one of the most frustrating things I have ever done on my truck. My plan was to use a screwdriver to turn the sheetmetal nut, then pull the hard line through the hole in the frame. The nut would not budge. I could not get any kind of wrench or pliers on it. I just could not reach it with much of anything.
Then I started trying to disconnect the hard line. I managed to strip the fitting on it with a flare nut wrench. At that point I gave up. I was so frustrated that I knew I would not make any progress. Knowing that I would tackle it again in the future, I went to a junkyard and got several of the sheetmetal nuts and some nice hardlines off a clean truck with no engine. When I had most of my engine torn apart about a year later, it made it much easier to access the lines. I used vice grips to remove my old hard lines, then a large socket to remove the sheetmetal nut. When I was done, I put it all back together with the clean used parts I had taken off the junkyard truck. I don't think I could have done it with the accessories on the engine. It is just too tight in there, and my hands are too big. Slonaker |
