crappy idle

sometimes when it's cold (60*) outside my truck will idle weird. it will start up fine and idle good for a minute or so then all of a sudden the idle drops to around 400 rpm. after a while it will just die. it will do this til the truck is at normal operating temp. not a degree below. i'm assuming the cold idle is set too low but that doesn't explain why it doesn't do it right off. if it is the cold idle, how do you adjust the cold idle on a stock 2bbl carb on a 307. thanks alot

Re: crappy idle

Check your choke pull-off. It may not be working right and could cause such a problem. If it has to be warmed up to run, the pull-off may be letting the choke open up, which could cause it to run poorly until it is warmed up.

Also, if the choke is not set properly, it may not be working like you want it to do.

Which carburetor are you running on your engine?

Where in Texas?

Re: crappy idle

Cold, huh it was 3 degrees here! I'd like some of the 60 degree cold here, I might have to pull out my shorts! Yeah, it just sounds like the idle (choke is not staying on long enough). Good luck!
