Question Door Seal Help Please

All, I put new door seals in on my 70 chevy cab. The particular seals I installed have a hard rubber corner where the top of the door meets the front side of the door above the vent window. This is causing tremendous pressure and wont allow the door to shut easy. Do I have defective seals or is that supposed to be there. Please help the door lock no longer work and you have to slam the door for it to catch.

Re: Door Seal Help Please

The sets I have used (3 so far) have what seems to be something inserted into the hollow part of the weather strip at the joint in that corner where it must be spliced. I don't think the originals had that in there either. They will loosen up after a while, especially in hot weather, but it's not to hot here now. Maybe the doors need som adjustment ??

Maybe all the repros are made that way, I don't know, but someone else may know.

Re: Door Seal Help Please

Silicone spray also helps the seals to slide rather than bind when th edoor shuts. GM uses a similar silicone produts on there cars and trucks from the factory.
