Oops! I did it again!
I just had to go and buy another truck
![]() 1977 GMC short step. Has a good V8 of unknown size - 160 psi in each cylinder. Need a new 4 barrel intake, has a 2 barrel at the moment. The truck came with a carb, in a garbage bag in a million peices TH350 - PO claims it is a good solid transmission, with no slipping or clunking. 3.08 open rear 10 bolt diff. The thing has fresh tires all around, new shocks all around, and new brakes all around. The interior is pretty nice too! The dash is gorgeous, has a sunroof, and a reasonable bench seat / door panels. Bad things: Mild bend in the frame under the cab. Nothing appears out of square, just has the bottom lip of the frame pulled down. Needs a new driver's side fender, new door panel carpets, headlights and the seat is getting worn. The cab light switch is shot, and when you turn the wipers on, they squirt fluid all the time. Also very rusty. Doesn't have any cab corners, rockers (inner or outer) or floor supports left. The fenders are pretty good n rotten too. All the above for 350 bucks Canadian ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Oops! I did it again!
lol, the step bed has no floor, the one flare has a dent in it, and there is some rot starting above the steps in the bed side wall. Should be an easy fix. I plan to sell the step bed to make back the money I spent on the truck

Re: Oops! I did it again!
Russell, is the bend on the frame on the drivers side? if so.. its suppose to be there.. i dont know when they started that, the 77 or 78 i looked at the other day had it, mine has it and all the other 81+ i have seen have it. From what i remember i believe its there for clearance for the Catalytic converter.. i think thats what i was told.. i thought mine was bent for along time as well. Thought some idiot tried to pull it out of the mud sideways.. until i got under OCBAUDs truck and others.. and realized they all had it.

Re: Oops! I did it again!
Ah, cool!
If thats the case, then a miss-understanding on my part is a main reason for getting the truck as cheap as I did, LOL Its on the driver's side rail, near the center of the cab ![]()

Re: Oops! I did it again!
Was it really that important to make that stupid bend in the cat and bump the frame, rather than make a straight cat and not mess with anything?

Re: Oops! I did it again!
It's not really a bend in the cat, it's to keep the frame from getting brittle and cracking/breaking from the heat cycling from being that close to the cat. The cats they were using when these trucks were built were the huge pellet type (most of which are long gone I'm sure...) and they didn't have much room to work with even when they did bend the frames. My Gentleman Jim even has that bend and it's a 75.

How much were you thinking? ![]() I've got reasonable fenders I can put on it, just need a cab... I can gut and pull one of these cabs in a day, and have it installed and complete the next day, lol
