Cool Front Shaft

My slip joint front shaft is shot. Driveline shop says its the wrong length. I measured it at 26-27 inches from center of front uni bearing to back of flange. Which looks appropriate installed - about 1/2 to 3/4 inch of showing slip wear. That seems right. I'm trying to replace it, they want too much for their rebuilt one and wont repair mine - after saying they would for $50.

Would any of you know what the correct length for this should be?

This is on my stock 1980 K10 long bed, 350 engine SM465/NP205 Trans & Case.

Any help would be appreciated. It's gonna snow again soon.

Thanks! - Dave

Re: Front Shaft

Well I found one at the junkyard. Too long, so I got the sawzall and air grinder and cut 6 inches off and cleaned up the weld hub. Now I'm looking for a weld shop to double or triple pass this at lunch - on the cheap, of course. Then I'll replace the uni's, lube it up and be off again!

I gotta get me a welder!
