Finished wet sanding my cab today - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well folks, the cab is wet sanded. What a dirty job, especially the inside (roof). My shoulders hurt. It will be headed to the booth next week for paint. I will post pictures when it has some color.

why not have pics now? i'm in the process of sanding mine, well bondo, sand, bondo, sand... i'm pretty damn tired of this repeated process of perfection. mine's about 98% ready for paint. i got the hood and fenders back on yesterday so i could take it down to the paint shop! boy i'm getting excited

Yeah. Try working at a body for 2 1/2 years and tell me how you like the strung out process.

Especially when your 18 yrs old with a short attention span.lol

Hey guys there is hope.

I started mine when I was 16. I got it finished up this past summer I am 21 now. The body work was 4 years. You got a love wetsanding the inside of the cab my arm pits were red with primer residue. That was a long build. Never mind pricey. About $25,000+ spent. Here are a few pitcures of the building process and the finished product is well worth it. It sure did feel like it was going to be a Life Time project.

I actually started working there when i was 15, just not full time. Over the 2-3 years i learned to be patient.

As long as you dont rush the body work it will turn out great. Dont be in a hurry to spray it. Once the colour is down it's there to stay. You will not be going back to fix imprfections. It's good to take a break from workin gon it also that way you have time to decide if you like the direction your taking the Restoration/Rodstoration

I haven't taken any pictures of the wet sanding process, but will get some when I'm in the paint booth. I've had this truck for about 8 years now and only worked on from time to time. Now that I'm in auto body school, I'm using it as my project so it is going well and I am forced to work on it daily. I love the work and can't wait to get a shop built of my own.
