power steering bracket question

i have a 71 with crate motor with header and long water pump. i used all the brackets and pulleys off a 77. i do not like the way the PS bracket bolts to the head. i had to use a wide spacer to accomadate how the bracket is designed (see pictures) Is this a normal stock setup with the stock manifolds? I will be getting new ceramic headers, Im looking for alittle cleaner looking set up for this bracket. thanks

Re: power steering bracket question

That is what is required when running headers, the distance has to made up for the cast iron that is missing. A cleaner setup would be a serpentine set. I just dropped almost 800 for the one I just bought.

Re: power steering bracket question

Here's a pic of mine. This is an original setup with short water pump. The pump is a later design, but still works. Also my headers work......

Re: power steering bracket question

Heres a long pump bracket. It is basically the same as yours except it bolts on front of head also. John
