Hey 68Racer, whereabouts in the UK are you from? I live just north of Manchester, near Burnley but I'm originally from Reading. Do you get to any shows/cruises at all?
Yours will be the second 68 step I know of in the UK, I met a guy from Sheffield at the Stars and Stripes show at Tatton Park in July who had just bought one that needs un-1970's-customising (if thats a word!) I drive a '67 long bed fleetside with a 350ci small block and TH350, but wouldn't like to try throwing it around Silverstone. I think I need a front sway bar at the very least and probably a drop before I'd contemplate that. I bet you got some attention though and probably scared the pooh out of one or two people seeing that grille in their rear-view mirror.

I thought I was the only Brit here !
I live near Daventry, about 20 miles from Silverstone. I moved up a year ago from Reading (house prices) but originally from Stockport. My e-mail is lalouette@waitrose.com , I'll put you in touch with some other owners in this country and our spares network! I go to all the drag meets, used to race the truck (13's) but I'm saving up for a big block, don't go to shows much. A sway bar will make a big difference, as will lowering, I'm going to lower mine further and try to beat 2mins 55sec around Silverstone. I know I scared myself! 110mph down the hanger straight, not much passed me on the straights! Four wheel drift in the corners, understeer, oversteer, three spins, haven't had so much fun in a truck in years. I keep thinking that when it rolled off the production line in Baltimore 34 years ago this is not what they intended. |
