If it were me I would get the small block towers and mount them in the forward holes where they belong. Then see where the trans crossmember needs to be located. You may be able to reuse the original and just relocate it and change the mount to meet the requirements of the trans you are using. This is the route I followed when I put the 700R4 in my truck.
