bagged people come in!
Finally found a place that installs airbags. They gave me a price of 2,500 total. Then I asked how much if I supplied all the parts and they said it was 1,000 of labor. Is this price about right?

Re: bagged people come in!
If they are offering decent parts and will back up their work, I think it sounds ok. I'm not sure what the going rate is in your area.
If you supply your own parts, they may not warranty the work. -Jeremy

Re: bagged people come in!
Describe decent parts. What "exactly" are you getting for that?

Re: bagged people come in!
I'm not sure what kit they use in the 2,500 package. I'm really looking for something faster, so I can clown at the light. However I have noticed some of their work seems pretty sloppy and not at all professional. I think for a grand they could do a hell of a better job. Problem is this is the only shop out here that I am aware of. I want the Suicide Doors kit (Bad Mo Fo). Anyways here is their website let me know what you think of their work. Oh and they do have vids on there.

Re: bagged people come in!
The problem is if they are the only game around, your kinda screwed. I did a google on Roma, TX and your in southern freakin nowhere. If I were you I would ask them if you can spend some time looking at the trucks in the shop now. If you don't see the quality of work your looking for, then move on. Even if it means going to a shop out of your area.
I had all my work done in a shop 4 hours away, but I was fortunate enough to have known the manager for years. After 10 minutes of walking around the shop, I had no doubt I would be getting premium quality work. |

Re: bagged people come in!
Say bro, be careful about using these guys.
I see a few things I just don't like. 2 links, stock shock location and some strange brackets not to mention they look like they learned to weld yesterday. I see they are using GC and parker valves with Viair compressors but, if you really want to play with your system seriously consider nitrogen. Even with 2 Viair 450's you will be waiting for pressure to build quite often. Call Jon at DB Rods and get a quote from him.(512-809-1854) He can at least answer any questions you may have and give you some pointers in looking for a reputable shop. Jon's been redoing a LOT of Extensive Metalworks stuff lately. Please tell me they are just temporary zip tying those valves on.

Re: bagged people come in!
yeah man just like N2 said. for me loooking at the pics the work seems okay i looked at the phots. any way i was dissapointed in the finishing stuff like the gaudges and the clean up they did. they had one 73 to 87 on there site and it looked okay but the nbs ones looked like better work. most important is are you willing to trust them. because once it is cut it is cutand will never be the exact same. if i were going the air bag way my self the most inportant thing to me would be what kit and how the welding, drilling and finish work was done. it is all your call and if you think they can do it and do it right well then go for it if not keep looking man.

Re: bagged people come in!
That does look like crappy work. What did it for me was these two pics. The bag looks like I don't even know what and it looks like they are running the lines dangerously close to the exhaust manifolds.

Re: bagged people come in!
Anyhow, I have decided to do the install myself with the help of a friend, and as much help as I can get online. I'm going with the Suicide Doors kit for the air managment and going with KP Components for the frame notch, 4-link, and brackets. All will be bolt-on, which hopefully will keep me from destroying my truck.

Re: bagged people come in!
Good choice man, I looked at their web site it looks like they are butchers they welded a bead down the vertical part of the frame with out reinforcements. ouch this gives the frame a place to break. They also used factory shock mounts on all the kits they did. Some of the shocks were horizontal by the time the ride was slammed (poor ride quality). I installed my air bag kit with the help of my friend who is a certified welder. It really isnt to hard, good luck keep us posted
