283 monojet

I thought that my 283 had a 2bbl carb until the other nite. Turns out, it has a monojet. I hadn't seen or heard of this combination in our trucks. Have I just been over looking something?

Anybody else have this set up?

Re: 283 monojet

Back in the 1980's during the last gasoline crunch, I read about people installing single barrel carbs on V8 engines thinking they could get increased fuel mileage. I think some even went as far out as installing Briggs & Stratton carbs. I'm sure this is what you have. Remove the carb and I'll bet you'll find the intake manifold is made for a 2GC.
