Re: If it's possible to polish a turd...
You can polish a turd but you can't make it shine. So, I guess you can wax a turd but you will only have a waxy turd in the end....

Re: If it's possible to polish a turd...
I made a reference to my truck, in another post, referring to the truck as a turd. That was to go with my P.O.S. avatar, but to explain it.
Love this post! I first heard the term from a co-worker from Pittsburgh. I had not heard it before, until he mentioned it. But, it makes sense. If you have turd, and you polish it, wax it, chrome it or whatever, you still have a turd. It may look nicer, but it's still just a turd. Hopefully, my truck will not revert to turd status, when it is painted. The combination of primer colors sure makes you wonder, though.

Re: If it's possible to polish a turd...
P.O.S.,what`s that mean,Pretty Old Survivor?
I think they should make hood`n`dash wax so guys with rough-shod trucks can polish, too.Rust and dents are one thing. But,why can`t you still drive down the road with a nice shiney hood in front of you to go along with a pretty dash? Then you can laugh at the guys with their pretty little shiney trucks with a primered hood. It`s all in perspective, right? There`s alot of old Chevys with crappy finishes on the road(What do you expect from a 35 year old machine) Alot of nice paint sitting on Fords and Dodges in the junkyard(years ago)

Re: If it's possible to polish a turd...
In my case, I refer to it as Positively Old Skool.
I like the Rat Rod look, but not to the point that a potentially unsafe vehicle is cobbled up from leftover parts that have been gathering rust for 30 years. I am more into a tribute to the late 40's/early 50's look of hot rods, when I think about "old school" ideas. But, Pretty Old Surviver would fit, until you see that I am some 22 years older than my truck, and far from pretty!!

Re: If it's possible to polish a turd...
leave it to Longhorn Man!
I agree with ChevLo, I love rat rods and old skool stuff. Hot rods ROCK! and hot rods made nowadays are cool, and the modernized stuff in em are neat. But I personally love old skool stuff. Whenever the day comes that I happen to find an old 30-something car, (I'd really like a Model A, but lord help me if I could ever find one for less than three arms, four legs, a kidney, and three eyes) I'm gunna do it old school. Probably flat head V8, flat black primered or something, real cheapo rat rod look.

Re: If it's possible to polish a turd...
I've always heard that you can polish a turd, then you have a shiney turd.
