looking for some stuff

to go on a 70 chevy...

hopefully this isnt too much to ask for...

where can I get a column w/ tilt and shift? should I get a new one or ?? It will get a paint job no matter which kind I get. If theres a chance to get one off a different vehicle, what car/truck should I look for?

I would also like to change the 6lug to a 5... I like the look of 20x10's and 5 spokes vs. 6 and with minimal backspacing, so I think I may need to shorten the rearend... any ideas? someone else on the board used a 69 camaro (60" width), some have said a fArd 9"... again, what kind of donor vehicle would be good?

thanks for any help

Re: looking for some stuff

Any Chevy van with the ignition switch on the dash is a column donor. We call them van tilts. It's a super easy swap, check the FAQ for article on it. I personally use motorhome tilt coulmns if I can find one. They are an even easier swap.

Check out the parts board for some items. If you subscribe, you can post a WTB ad to aquire what you need. It is a great source if you don't have a lot locally.

Re: looking for some stuff

On a 70 chevy, measure the width of the rear end and compare it to a 71-80 rear end. If it's the same width you can just swap in the 5 lug axles. If it's narrower then it's a little more work. As for the front, just go to the FAQ section and read the various threads on upgrading to disc brakes.

Re: looking for some stuff

thanks for the replys... please dont get me wrong, bottom line here is what type and yr(s) of vehicle would be a good donor car for most of the stuff I want? is it strictly a find a seek deal?
