oil filler cap in performance valve covers??
OK, I'm feeling a little stupid asking this question but I just bought some new Chevy Performance valve covers to replace my leaking tin ones that came with my crate 350. They each have a hole in them, one for the PCV and on the other one for the breather. there is no oil fill and cap like on the OEM covers. Is the deal to use the breather hole for the oil fill as well? As I said, it may be a stupid question, but then again everybody on here is always willing to answer questions without too much humiliation!! Thanks

i use my breather hole for the oil fill on my edelbrock covers but i guess you could always drill another hole and use a push in oil cap.

I have a set of those same covers on my 350. I use one of the breather holes. Since you are pouring oil through the breather it fills reaaaaaaal slow. I have considered pulling a valve cover and removing the sheet metal under the breather hole.

I bought mine and actually came with the 2nd hole one one side. I was suprised and had to go out and get a oil cap for that side.

Re: oil filler cap in performance valve covers??
The performance valve covers that Proform makes for Chevrolet all pretty much have two holes (one on each cover). I have used this type of cover for quite some time and I fill through the passenge side breather hole. I would NOT remove the baffle plate from the bottom side, because it keeps the oil from splashing up on the grommet and then leaking out onto the headers and also being sucked up into the engine intake. I use a small funnel and then add oil to it, which allows it to fill into the engine cleanly. Just about all of the aftermarket companies make the covers the same, these days so I figured I would have to get used to it. I have had covers from "Billet Specialties", "Street and Performance", "Chevrolet", and "Edelbrock"---all basically the same...
