Burb Emblem ?

Could someone check or may know off hand. Does the rear door emblem on a suburban have 3 or 4 mounting post. I know a van was very similar but I think they had more or less post. I have an NOS emblem and want to know for sure which one it is.
Thanks, Bill

I've been told the van and burb was the exact same.

Re: Burb Emblem ?

I thought that our suburbans are 4 stud (Chevrolet) emblem(my 67 burb has 4 holes on inside of door all with plugs/covers). Earlier chevy vans (late 60s?) will have a 4 post emblem, that is suppose to fit the burb as well. I have yet to find one to verify this myslef. Later vans (early 70s) have the same chevrolet script, but in a 3 post emblem. There are some years of el camino that also have a 4 stud Chevrolet emblem, but this does not line up with the factory holes on the suburban.

John,

You're right, 4 not 3. Opend my mouth before I looked.

Re: Burb Emblem ?

Take a look at the back side of the CHEVROLET emblem you have. As others have said, if it's for a BURB, it will have four mounting studs. Also, look at the back side of the "V" in "CHEVROLET". One "arm" of the letter V will have one of the four mounting studs and the other "arm" of the "V" will have raised letters/numbers that read "PT3894637". The original GM box the emblem comes in will read, "1 #3894637 GR. 17.507 PLATE" on the end flap. I have also heard that early 60s Chevy vans had the same emblem, but have been unable to verify. Hope this helps!

Re: Burb Emblem ?

I will second the 4 stud attachments. The two outer most studs are placed down low and the inner two are placed higher. Back a couple months ago, several of the MS board members got together and hunted through a couple Jackson area salvage yards. We were able to find a Chevrolet emblem for ebbhightower's 71 Suburban with barn style rear doors. It goes on the passenger side door. The emblem we found was from a 67 van.

So, that leads me to ask... Was there a "suburban" emblem for this era? The reason I ask is because ebbhightower's left side door has three similar mounting holes. I am almost convinced that a dealership must have had their logo bolting to the left door.
