My 85 beater
You think there's any hope to clean her up? Straight body but paint is rough, passenger cab corner rusted out. What ya'll think? Strong 350..... Jeremy |

Re: My 85 beater
Sure, go for it. It's all measured by your desire to see it done. If you have a desire to see it look a certain way, that's the only thing that will push you to do it. Looks like you have a good one to start with. Keep us posted on the progress.

Re: My 85 beater
Touch it up and drive it for the first year (or 3 years like I did). If it grows on you like mine did, do the body up right with new paint and fix anyhting it needs and keep it till it don't roll no more.

Re: My 85 beater
Thanks for the encouragement guys. My first plan of action is to get the thing running right. Having trouble with this Edelbrock Performer we switched with the Quadrajet. Thats the major goal now. The interior is stripped minus the seat. I am cleaning up the dash, door panels, and carpet. Hopefully going to try the interior paint from LMC. Got my eye on a 96 model 60/40 bench to replace the factory seat if theres not too much bracket mods to be done. Other than that she is going to roll like she is for a while so I can save up for a nice paint/trim job. How hard is it to replace all the stick on trim on the sides? I also want to jump on the windshield and rear glass chrome trim.....but have to wait til the $$$$$$$$$$ is right.....
Thanks again!!!!!!! Jeremy |

Re: My 85 beater
Cool truck! Of course, mine has a similar factory paint scheme. I've been a little down about my truck lately, too. She's not perfect, but still in pretty good shape. I've got some rear door lip rust and a little on the pass. side lower quarter to fix. The upper 4" of the tailgate needs some work, too. The engine isn't as smooth as it used to be, either. But, I still love my old truck. Parts are cheap and I know its little quirks, so working on it is within my grasp. I'll get her fixed back up. I always do...
Good luck! It looks like it'll be an awesome ride when you get done with it.
