Tri Power?
I have my heart set on a tri power setup as that was the hot thing back in the day. It is not for performance, the project engine will be a relatively mild 383, I just want the look.
Has this been discussed in a previous thread? I see them advertised and the prices are all over the place. Anyone got this on their ride? Any advice? What should I be looking for/looking out for? Anyone have a contact with someone they trust that rebuilds the Rochester 2G's used in this application? |

Re: Tri Power?
I will show you a tri-power but you will have to put a Pontiac motor in it. His friends made him sell it because he kept on winning all the trophies.

Re: Tri Power?
Tri-carbs setups arent all that bad for performance, they can be had used on Evil-Bay as well as brand new setups from EdleJunk, and Barry Grant, I'm not sure if anyone else has any setups, most guys dropped using them becuase of tuning issues, most Tri-Carb setups should yeild a better fuel economy being that you only run one single two barrel and the other two are progressive. I like the looks of the Barry Grant setup, but don't care to much about the price. BG even claims better numbers than the EdleJunk AirGap manifold setup.

Go to this link www.hotrodcarbs.com
Talk to Larry (owner) he is absolutely one of the nicest people you'll ever talk to about these set-ups. He knows them and has a very good reputation. BUT let me tell up front he is not cheap and you'll be put on a waiting list because he is usually backed up for a couple months. Ron

Re: Tri Power?
Happy to know I'm not the only one who likes 3 deuces. I'm planning to put the Barry Grant Six Shooter on my 383. I just really like the look and sound of them. I sure don't like the price of the Barry Grant setup but it sure looks like it's first rate.

Re: Tri Power?
look for an edelbrock #357 is in the used market --but these can also be bought new-- stay away from the edelbrock 355 or any W head chevy engines. Stay with mechanical progressive linkage.

Re: Tri Power?
Thanks for the replies. Ron I checked out your link and that looks very promising, thanks, the wait would not be a problem as my project is just at the frame stage right now [will post a couple of pics soon for the photo junkies]. Turns out there is a guy in WA just to the south of me that does these setups, he is close enough that I can go down and see him in person.
Larry the Barry Grant stuff seems a tad pricey but you are right they look great and of course his stuff has a terrific reputation. I had one of his 2 barrel hollies on my race car back in the 90s and it ran flawless for 5 seasons. JG |

Re: Tri Power?
if you got the money, they'll make it for ya! might try the 500 caddy websites. i know there's a dual quad manifold out there. i cant think of the name off the top of my head, but it was in Street Rodder during their 500 build up. might try a search on the Streetrodder website to see if it's archived.

Re: Tri Power?
Larry, I'm definitely not going back to work tomorrow. I did my 37 years and have way too many projects going on to have time for regular work. Trouble is now I lust for a set of those finned valve covers like in Cdowns photo above.
