Re: side markers

You can try any of the board vendors. Ed at MotherTruckers can probably help you (www.mothertruckers.com). If he doesn't have it, he can probably get it. You can always call him on his 800 number.

Re: side markers

That's a good point, Frenchblue71. Xrdagwood, there are numerous vendors and you have to consider shipping costs on top of the price, especially if you need any larger items.

Re: side markers

I haven't done this myself, but I know that a few board members have. I heard it was an easy mod, and they look nice.

Re: side markers

The van ones work from like 68 or when ever that body started untill 93 or so... they had 3 styles too, the same as the truck base model, then the CST/Cheyenne style, and then large smooth fairly flush units. The latter puts out way more light than either of the 2 former lenses, and if you are going for a shaved trimless body, they look better than removing the lamps all together IMO.
The large smooth ones started in like 86 or so when the tail lights got bigger on the vans.

Re: side markers

you beat me to the firebird lights! you can bolt them right on and the cover is paintable. it covers the screws and the entire setup is flush on the body. the contours match and everything.

here's an example, not my truck but he is a board member.

Re: side markers

So there is no modification at all to install those firebird lights? If that is the case, what all do I need to pick up at the wrecker to make it work? Also, what years of firebirds have them, and do the Camaros also?

Re: side markers

Here is a dumb question. I have side markers without lights running to them. Are they supposed to work as parking lights or turnsignals? My guess is the former.

Re: side markers

Hook'em, These worked as turn signals to alert people who were not directly in front or behind the vehicle. Required on all vehicles after 1968, hence the change in fenders in 67/68.

Some were wired with lights, some were just passive reflecters. Someone on here will know which came with which. I replaced my reflecter type with bulbed versions and plan to wire it up. I think the factory wiring ran the front as turn signals and the rear as running lights.

Re: side markers

68 and 69 did not come with lights onless optioned. The only way they were required to be actual lights in the 68 and 69 model years is if it was a cab/chassis, and/or a daullie.
In 70 all trucks got lit side markers.
Some blinked, some did not. No rhyme or reason on that... that's just how it is.
