What the...
Was under my truck today, and I noticed that I have 2 crossmembers, one at the bellhousing and another right under the tail housing. Seems kinda odd to me. Whats the deal guys? P.O decide to bolt in a auto x-member too?
Also foundout that I have a 1 piece driveshaft. The truck is a 65 1/2 Ton Shortbed. v8 / 3spd manual. How hard will it be to swap from the manual to an automatic? Tranny measures 26" give or take 1" from the bellhousing to the tailshaft and it's 21-22" from where the tranny bolts to the bellhousing to the tailshaft. Any clues? Edit: I was pointed here: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge...on_gateway.htm A while ago, but my transmission doesnt look like any of those. It looks like a GM car transmission.

Re: What the...
Perhaps the truck had an automatic to begin with? Maybe a Powerglide? It's quite possible, especially since you mention that the current trans is possibly from a passenger car.
If you're interested in a TH350 swap, see this thread: Manual to auto th350 swap 2 wheel drive started by Gyva on 1/20/06. A Powerglide cross-member worked perfectly for my 3 on the tree to TH350 swap in my '63.
