Need pic of spare tire mount

I went to install the spare tire in my 76 C10 lwb the other day and the holder appears too long. The PO did not have the spare mounted but gave me the holder when I bought the truck. But when I crawled under to mount the thing, it appears to be much too long. I figure I either have the wrong mount or I'm looking at the wrong place to install the bolts that hold it up.

If anyone could post or send me (SDELVY55@aol.com) a pic of their spare mounted, or the bracket installed without a spare I would appreciate it. Also a pic of the bolt positions (where they attached to the frame) would also be a big help.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Need pic of spare tire mount

the mount attaches at an angle, furthest forward at the drivers side and farthest back on the passenger side.

Re: Need pic of spare tire mount

Jon, thanks for the info. I'll take another look to see if I can find where the bolts were originally located.

Re: Need pic of spare tire mount

I am also having this problem and am looking for pictures. The spare tire mount I am trying to use is from a '62 3/4-ton if that matters.

Shoot an email to webmaster@73-87chevytrucks.com with that as the subject and body and I will try to get the picture of my '87 when I get home.

Re: Need pic of spare tire mount

Chris, thanks a bunch! I think that should give me what I need.
I just need to crawl underneath and check it out.

Thanks again.

Re: Need pic of spare tire mount

Not a problem Scott. I tried to get it this morning, but my Digital camera batteries were dead. If you need more, let me know.
