Hood Adjustment

My hood on my 84 gmc is higher on the one side then the other, and does not sit flush with the fender? is there any adjustment for this?

YES, The brackets that mount to the hood will have to loosened slightly and then the hood pushed down to match the fender. You will want to leave the screws realatively tight, so that you can open the hood back up and they will be in the spot you adjusted the hood to. I usually mark the bolt head and washer with a pencil, so I can see how much I moved the bolt when I did the adjustment.

What you are trying to acheive here is to move the bracket at on bolt and not the other (on the same bracket, since there are two bolts on it) to get this adjustment. Take your time and work it out slowly. Check each side to the fender clearance and also check the hood latch to the hood latch bar alignment as you do this. Also look at the hood and align it with the fender front, as well as the cowl.

I've heard you need to move the hinge up to get the hood to go down. Just don't sound right.

The hinge does NOT move on the body, it is mounted solid; so moving the hinge plate up on the hood bolt holes WILL move the hood down into the body. Simple
