Stepside fender weight, help please
Hey fellers, I'm trying to help out RICKSTRUCKS. He's being kind enough to look into shipping a set of rear stepside fenders for me, but doesn't have any practical way to get the weight of these babys (without having to go wait in line at a shipper.) He'll be using the weight and dimensions to try to get me some different estimates online for shipping. Just need the weight of the fenders and if you have shipped some rear fenders before, please share your experience (shipper, cost, etc...)
Thanks so much everyone!

Re: Stepside fender weight, help please
Used original fenders , or new aftermarket ? With the step or fender only ? I have a used one in my storage i could possibly weigh , although i would think the big cost will be the dimensions of the shipping box . At least thats how ups does it .

Re: Stepside fender weight, help please
I had one shipped from AZ to PA a couple of years ago, the guy I bought it from literally "wrapped" the fender with cardboard and shipped via Greyhound (I know UPS won't ship anything this big without you paying a leg for it), I paid $64 back then, nowdays I heard DHL is pretty cheap, specially whan compared with UPS and FEDEX.
If you check vendors online, they'll ship new fenders with a big freight charge, for being oversize. The thing with greyhound is that you have to take the item to your local bus station and wheen it arrives they call you and you have to go to the station to pick it up, where DHL will pick up at your house and deliver at your door.

I have used a bathroom scale in a pinch. They are not very accurate at the lower weights, so the best way to do it is to weigh yourself with and without holding the fender and subtract the difference.

Re: Stepside fender weight, help please
I had a set of stepside fenders shipped from Alabama about 5 years ago, they went Greyhound and shipping was $65.00 for both. They were not wrapped at all and arrived in great shape...except for the 29 destination stickers they put on at every station they stopped at. JK.

Re: Stepside fender weight, help please
Thanks guys. I have heard DHL is the cheapest. They are a nice set of rust free originals. I wish I had $800 for a set of brand new ones. It will just be the fenders, pass and driver side. Anyone else?
