96 s-10 blazer Compass not working

I have recently aquired a 96 s-10 balzer. The compass and thermometer do not work right. I got another unit and put it in, but it still doesn't work right. Is there a sensor someplace else for heading and temp? If so, where is it?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Dan
