Blower motor upgrade?
Are there any tips/tricks to upgrading the blower motr to blow harder? I am about to pull the dash apart and replace heater core, and blower motor and figured now was a good time to ask.
Thanks

Re: Blower motor upgrade?
A\C or non A\C truck? If its a non A\C truck you can upgrade to an A\C truck motor.

Re: Blower motor upgrade?
I used one from a 76, it has a metal cage fan (my old one was broken & plastic) and works/fits perfect.

Re: Blower motor upgrade?
Americanrider, could you tell me where you got the metal fan, (and part number if you have it?) The only ones I have found are the POS plastic ones. Thanks

Re: Blower motor upgrade?
There was a thread on this awhile back using an early 90's truck cage I think.

Re: Blower motor upgrade?
I can't find the thread, but I think they said they used one out of a 94 and if fit perfectly and blew much harder.

Re: Blower motor upgrade?
The best improvement I made to mine was cleaning all the twigs/leaves/seeds out of the fan blades. That stuff sure piles up after 30 some years.

Re: Blower motor upgrade?
Mongo, I pulled it out of a 76 GMC 1/2ton I was parting out. I'll look around and see if I can find another, I know of two late 70's trucks being junked nearby.
