Bag install question
I'm almost ready to put the bags on the front crossmember. Are there any modifications to be done to get the bag cups to set right in the lower A arm? Do I also have to cut the old bump stops out and bracket that's next to it? Any help would be appreciated. I have read MR SHELLY'S thread, but of no mention to this question.

As to cutting the cups it all depends on how low you wanna sit. I know with the pre 73 a-arms you cant cut too much off, now if you are running post 73 arms you can cut quite a bit more off. As stated all has to do with what your purpose is. As to your 2nd question say good bye to your bump stops!

Your kit should come with some directions. Usually you have to remove the steering/bumpstop and replace it with one in the kit. I would suggest if this is your first install of airbags you buy a kit from AirRide Technologies. They have good support and can walk you thru your install as well as a news group they monitor. Some cut the lower a frame to level out the bottom cup but it is not necessary.

I don't want to cut the cups, just want to know if I have to cut the A-arm to get the cup to sit properly. Any ideas? Thanks.

My mistake, while browsing SD I realized Jasons kit is only $60 not $70 by the time you factor in shipping you're back up to $70 anyways

anyone know the difference in height between the ART lower cups and the SD.com lower cups? I installed my front bags with the SD.com kit and my lca's are still about 2" or so off the ground.. not really any lower than with my 2" drop springs.. The kits from ART seem to lay the control arms on the ground. I was a little disappointed that I am going to have to take everything out again and figure out how to cut the HUGE cups down the correct amount then have to reinstall everything. I guess the little bit extra work is worth saving a few hundred $$'s though in comparison to the ART kit..

what year is your truck love it loud?
I think Jason's are taller for the 63-72 guys. When I first installed my bags with my 63-72 LCA's I didnt cut them cause there wasnt much to cut. Now that I am running the 73+ LCA's I am going to have to the cut the cups nearly in half. I havent got the cups cut yet so I dont have any pix, but I am hoping to get some time to work on the truck in soon. It is hard working 6 days a week and looking to buy your first house and have a girl friend hanging on your arm to get much done on your truck lol. Keith |

it's an '80.. there must be someone who can get a measurement of the ART lower cups. It seems the majority of people have them.. I don't really want to cut mine any shorter than what the ART ones are because they seem to be just about perfect.

the 67-72 arms and the 73-87 arms are essentially the same, I can't see how that makes any difference. I do however know that the SD lower cups are too tall and need to be cut down to get very low.

Dude forget the cups. Buy 2 lower bag mounts ( circle ones) from suicide doors for 5 bucks ea, and weld them to the lower control arm. With 2" spindles that should put you x-member about 1 1/2 in from the ground. Dont forget to cut the inner fender lip or its bye-bye tires. I tried thoes cups and you sit way, way to high....
