Tripod mirror mounts
On my 77K20, I have the three holes for the tripod mirrors. However, a few of the threads in the door are gone and there is just a hole. How can I fix this? Can I buy something that I put into those holes so I can bolt the mirror frame to my door? Hopefully you guys know what I am talking about. My truck isn't here so I can't take pictures. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Those holes are most undoubtedly just places the "POP RIVETS" were. Go to an automotive specialty outlet and get some threaded pop rivets ( a big pop rivet where the stem comes out is threaded in the aluminum base and then the stem can be removed and a bolt screwed into it) and reset them in the door. This will put the threads back for you mounts.

or, another route is to take off your door panel and put a nut on from inside the door... but that almost sounds like too much work.. but might be an idea if you cant find the threaded pop rivets..

I was thinkin about the nut on the inside deal. The panels are already off, but if I need to take my mirrors off for some reason, that is just that much more work. But thanks for the ideas.

I agree on doing it right the first time buuuuuuuuuuuuut... how often to you really think you will have to remove the mirrors?

I have used a nut similar to this before, not even sure where to buy them, been a long time since I used them. They work good, just don't over tighten them the strip easy.
