Re: 58-59 GMC Custom!

Hello,
How do you lower the 55-59 Chevy/GMC trucks with the stock front and rear ends?
Thanks,
Leroy

Re: 58-59 GMC Custom!

I have a Camaro subframe on mine. I am going to flip the rear axle to level it out. Looks like a stink bug currently.

Re: 58-59 GMC Custom!

Ice68, you can lower them some with different leaf springs such as monoleafs, but no where near as low as the truck above.

Check out http://www.classicperform.com/ for parts.

Re: 58-59 GMC Custom!

Thanks Northern GMC for the info. Does anyone have a picture of a '59 lowered in monoleaf?
Thanks,
Leroy

Re: 58-59 GMC Custom!

Thanks NorthernGMC; it looks nice!!! Did you lowered it with just monoleaf's? I'm trying to decide if I want to lower my '59 with monoleaf's with the original stock front and rearend OR go with a subframe. I'm leaning toward the monoleaf's due to $$$.
Thanks,
Leroy

Re: 58-59 GMC Custom!

Not my truck, but I believe the owner did lower it with just monoleafs.

I think you are comparing apples and oranges, as with a subframe you also will get the brakes and steering upgraded.

My truck is original.

Re: 58-59 GMC Custom!

You could also try lowering with drop axles up front. Don't remember off the top of my head where you can get them, but they're out there.
