Question th400/np205 what to look for in a donor vehicle ?

I'm going to be needing something beefier than the th350 I have now and wonder before I start scouting for a donor what type and year range of vehicles would be likely to have a th400/np205 in them from the factory.

thanks in advance,

Brian

I have one in a 88 k30 crew cab. I have seen several crew cab 4x4's with that set up.

I will sell you mine but you got to take the rest of the truck with it. it is a 88 crew cab 4x4 but it don't have a motor. yes it has a dana 60 front with a dana 70 rear, th 400 with the np205 t-case. trans was rebuilt in 03, and the trans has a very deep finned trans pan on it. $1800 if your interested

I may yet take you up on that, just trying to look locally first as shipping would be a son of a gun I imagine.

Thanks,

Brian

Don't know if they all did, but my wife's 80 K20 has one, (400ci/TH400/NP205)
It's the figure 8 bolt pattern also.

the K30 were the only truck to have them . . . yes some of the 70's models had the NP203, but I don't think we're talking about that in this thread.

Re: th400/np205 what to look for in a donor vehicle ?

boy you guys are really busting my balls.

go ahead and look for more K20's with the 400/205, i guarantee you probably wont be able to find another one. K30's would be the easy bet. and yes, I mean K30's WITHOUT NP203's.

anyone else want to split hairs?

Hahaha, Yea I'd have to agree, there were probably alot more K30's with the 400/205 combo than there were K20's with the same.

As part of that guarantee you made, if I find another one, you buy it for me, correct? LOL
