Personally, I think you are right on target, especially since I have the same drop and wheel size, along with the very same wheels. My tires are Nitto Extreme NT-450's, 255/50R17's.

Very nice truck BTW. I agree, wheels and tires can make or break it.

Re: help decide...pic's

Swervin is on the right track.

There's a reason 4/6 drops are so popular year after year. They work well and are easy to live with on a driven truck.

Only thing, MY OPINION ONLY, those NT450 like Swervin has, you can get them in a 275/50/17 too. I like the 255 on the front like he has, and a 275 on the rear, rather than 255's on all 4 corners.

Here is a pic of my old 97 truck. I had the 17x8 wheels all around, with the 275's in the rear and 255's in the front. Same NT450 like Swervin has. I think the extra bit of fattness in the back with the 275 looks great.

4/6 drop. But I wouldn't go with the TT2's...there are just too many vehicles out there with those wheels.

While it is true that the TT2's have been used a lot they are still a classic wheel that will never go out of style. Look at Mike's truck as a perfect example.

One thing you might want to consider is dropping your truck can be an addiction. Once you have lowered it a little you always want a little more. If this is not going to be a daily driver I recommend a 5/7 drop. If you want a classic wheel and don't want the TT2's you might consider the 17" Cragars.....

Re: help decide...pic's

Me personally, I would go 5/7, because it can be made to be a 5/6, because the rear shackle is adjustable between 1" and 2"...
3" Drop Spindles / 2" Drop Springs
5" Flip Kit / 2" Drop Shackle
I would also go with the 17" either TTII's or Eagle Series 212...can't beat the look of a nice 5 spoke.
Also, a 255/50 17" all around or 255/50 & 275/50 combo is definately the way to go.

Hey, what color blue is that? That looks pretty close to what I'm wanting to put on my truck.

Re: help decide...pic's

If you go with some classic wheels like the TT2's, make the tires a bit fatter than the blue one or the wheel a bit bigger. Try and fill the wheel well out more since it's a big truck and has big styling.

Obviously just my opinion, though.

Re: help decide...pic's

Keep the stock rims and get some of those plastic "spinner" wheel covers from autozone! That will really set it off. Seriously, nice rig. 79's rule!

i had to go from 255/60 tires to 235/70s but i still need to go smaller since when i hit a bump they would rub but only raw backs to 3 inch spindles is that the my 15s rubbed the crude out of my lca so if u got 3 inch spindles 16s or bigger would be the best bet

Re: help decide...pic's

hey thanks, getting alot of good idea's sounds like 4 ,6 minimum 5,7 max.i like the torque thrust II's.. by the way american racing now makes a chromed alloy version torque thrust d .same wheel but chrome instead of polished.also like the looks of the old corvette rallies late 60's early 70's. a pic of a dropped "ourkind" with those would be cool if anybody can find one.

Re: help decide...pic's

thanks man, those are stock 15x8? rallys .15 for sure not positive on the 8.i'm getting real close to lowering time.since it's not a daily driver, i'm going low.5 in. upfront and 7 in. in back leaning towards a company called mcgaughey's out of california.a guy i know at a local shop runs it on his 78 and loves the ride.and it's cheaper than some others out there.

If you want to lower it I would get a 5/7 drop. With a truck that clean it would look great IMO.
