WTB Vac gauge

Looking to buy a vacuum gauge.
I just bought a tach gauge cluster from a board member. It needs a new lens.
I thought while I'm at it I would install a vacuum gauge and buy the tach/vac lens.

Re: WTB Vac gauge

Striker, thanks for the link. It just seems that if I'm tearing into the gauge assembly, I might as well fill all the holes.
Not sure how much of a problem it will be to retrofit a vac guge?

Re: WTB Vac gauge

You need the front plate for a vac gauge, that piece is tough to find. I have found the front plate for $100 from certain vendors. I am considering cutting up two front plates to make one, and save myself the $100.

Not sure what you mean by front plate.

Re: WTB Vac gauge

The front tin.
It's cut out in a semi circle for the temp, amp, and oil gauges. The fourth spot is not cut out. If you put a gauge in there without modifying it you will not be able to see it.

This is the tin he is refering to. This is one that I restored some time back and sold, so just to let you know I no longer have it.

Re: WTB Vac gauge

Ok, I understand. It should not be too big a deal to cut a semi-circle.
Maybe finding a vac gauge will be the biggest problem.

Cut and bend a lip! It is pretty straight forward.
FYI the tach hole is the size of the bottom of a rattle spray can

Re: WTB Vac gauge

You can tell that I've never been inside a gauge cluster. I forgot about bending the lip. That will take a bit more thought.
Chevy Duty has a vac gauge for $60.
