For the second time, I had my front passenger hubcap come off while driving. And for the second time I was lucky enough to find it a couple hours after it happened. My Dad had this truck before he died and I noticed that he had etched his phone number along with the word "reward" on the inside (I assume that he had lost them before also). I imagine that I would need a whole new set if I lost one, which I would rather not have happen.

Without having to rely upon dumb luck or the generosity of a stranger, is there a better way to secure hubcaps?

My suggestion would be to either replace the hubcaps(in part due to the centimental value)and also check the tabs on the back to see if they have become disloged from where they are crimped to the cap(had this happen on beauty rings)

You could also bend the tabs slightly to get a tighter fit. I did that on my 68 Impala. You might also check the welds on the wheel. Make sure the wheel isn't flexing when you take a corner.

How about you just loosen all of them up and the kids and I just ride around a mile or so behind you. Everytime one comes off, we will bring it back to the house and claim the reward...

My kids need to get to college somehow...

I see how you are Mike. BTW, if you happen to find a hubcap on the side of the road, you might want to forgo the kids education and pop that baby on to one of those bare rims.

Hey. It is a minivan. And a Windstar at that. The only way I can tell our apart from the other 10000 green minivans around here is that missing hubcap!

But you know I did pay $15 for a set of wheel covers for the van a couple of years ago. Of course, I paid $20 for a set of hubcaps for the truck, that isn't even back on the road yet. So at least I have my priorities straight.

Those are heavy wheel covers and have always been a problem coming off. Bending the clips, for a tight fit is about all you can do...and everytime you pry them off, you need to bend the clips out again!
Any chance about 4-6 spots of "Goop" (that's the brand name) would help? Try one and see what happens.
