Re: rear brake drums

I Bolted The Backing Plates & Complete Drum & Brake Assy. Off Of A 75 ONTO A 71 12 BOLT. They Were 2 5/8" Instead Of The 2" Wide Shoes That Came On Our Trucks. It Made A Very Noticable Difference. John

THERE WAS NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT THE 75. I THOUGHT THEY WERE ALL 2 5/8" WIDE IN LATER YEARS. IT WAS A NATURAL PROGRESSION OF BRAKE SHOES. I KNOW MY 82 1/2 TON HAS 2 5/8" WIDE SHOES & IT IS NOT A HEAVY DUTY MODEL & DOESN'T HAVE EXTRA HEAVY DUTY BRAKES. JOHN
EVERY 2WD 1/2 TON AFTER 1970 HAD 5 LUGS.
